Regular practice for the University basketball squad will begin in the Gymnasium this evening at 7.30 o'clock, and will continue every night during the week from 7.30 to 8.15 o'clock. The Freshmen will practice from 8.15 to 9 o'clock.
The work this week will be very rudimentary and is planned to condition the men for the harder work of the season. In the enforced absence of Coach E. L. Burnham '07, the coaching this week will be done by H. R. Snyder 3L, a former member of the University basketball and football teams.
The prospects for a strong team this year are not encouraging, although four of last year's team-Captain I. S. Broun '08, E. S. Allen '09 and E. S. Currie '09 forwards and P. Brooks '09 guard-are still available. However, it will be very hard to fill the positions of centre and guard left vacant by the loss of H. V. Amberg '08 and ex-Captain E. L. Burnham '07. The most promising men for centre are G. G. Browne '10, W. H. Dial '09 and O. A. Wyman '08, while C. Almy, Jr., '08 has shown up well at guard in the inter-class games. For forwards there is plenty of good material, including the forwards of last year's team and J. R. Sheehan '10 of last year's Frashman team, and if a good guard cannot be found, one of these men may be shifted to that position.
