NEW HAVEN, CONN.; Oct. 7, 1907.--The Yale football team was put through a hard drill this afternoon preliminary to a long scrimmage with the college team. There was not the snap in the work that has characterized the practice this fall and the fumbling was the worst of the season. There were few attempts to negotiate forward passes as the men followed them so poorly that they rarely regained the ball. The one redeeming feature of the afternoon was Coy's punting, his kicks averaging well over fifty yards. At present, there is title to choose between While and Coy, the two candidates for fullback.

The scrimmage today began with the ball in the middle of the field in the university team's possession. Soon the first team fumbled, and the second rushed the ball over the line without difficulty. The regulars were then given the ball on the 30-yard line and scored by straight football. After a short rest, the college, team again rushed the university team off their feet for another touchdown.
