Long Signal Drill at New Haven

New Haven, Conn., October 25, 1907.--The Yale coaches today put the university team through a long signal drill, paying particular attention to the smoothness of the plays. Several changes were made in the line, Cooney, the centre, being tried at guard, Brides, a guard, going in at end, and Congdon at centre. In the short scrimmage after the signal drill, the second team twice held the university team for downs and gave it considerable difficulty in scoring one touchdown. Straight football was used for the most part though one or two forward passes and onside kicks were worked successfully. Coy's work at fullback was conspicuous. He hit the line hard and made several good gains.

The line-up of the University team was as follows: l.e., Brides; l.t., Foster; l.g., Cooney; c., Congdon; r.g., Goebel; r.t. Biglow; r.e., Alcott, H. Jones; q.b., Dines; l.h.b., Philbin; r.h.b., Murphy, Bomar; f.b., Coy.
