TEAM LEAVES FOR ANNAPOLIS

Fifteen-Minute Scrimmage With the Freshman Eleven Yesterday.

The University football team will have the Square for Annapolis at 7.15 o'clock this evening. They will take the Federal Express from the Back Bay station at 8.04, arriving in Baltimore at 8.40 o'clock Friday morning and break-fasting at the Hotel Belvidere. Friday will be spent at the Baltimore Country Club's grounds, where a short signal practice will be held in the afternoon. The team will return to the Belvidere for the night and will leave for Annapolis at 10.15 Saturday morning.

The following men will be taken: Apollonio, Burr, Butt, Cutting, Fish, Forster, Gilbert, Gilmore, Grant, Gray, Hoar, Houston, Inches, Kennard, Macdonald, Newhall, Nourse, Parker M. C. Peirce, W. Peirce, rand, Robinson, Starr, Waterbury. Bird, Brock and Lockwood will go if their injuries permit.

The practice yesterday consisted of a 15-minute scrimmage with the Freshman eleven, in which the University team scored one touchdown and a goal from placement. The playing of the University team was marred by altogether too frequent penalties, and much unnecessary roughness.

Kennard, who Tuesday played tackle for only the second time, was shifted to halfback yesterday to try him out in that position. He lacked speed and life, and was unable to get started as quickly as the other backs. Apollonio, although not in the scrimmage, has almost recovered from the injury, and will be able to play in part of the Annapolis game on Saturday. The ends excelled for the Freshman team and practically no gains were made around their positions, the University team relying entirely on tackle and guard plays.

The touchdown was made by straight rushing down the field after a blocked punt on the Freshmen's 20-yard line. Gray gained six yards through centre, but Corbett upset the next play. Wendell then ran the ball to the 8-yard line, but the team was penalized 20 yards for his hurdling. Fish gained 10 yards running from position and in two more plays, Gray made a touchdown.

On the next kick-off, MacKay kicked over the goal line and the ball was punted out to the University's 45-yard line. After a number of penalties for both sides, Sprague's forward pass was intercepted on the University's 38-yard line. Burr punted to the Freshmen's 40-yard line and from there the ball was rushed to the 5-yard line, where Burr kicked a goal from placement.
