In a remarkably close game the University basketball team defeated Tufts last night by a score of 15 to 14. A great many fouls were called on both teams as the referee was unusually strict.
By greater ability to shoot goals from fouls Tufts was in the lead at the end of the first half by a score of 10 to 6. The University team was unable to overcome this lead until late in the second period, when, after the score had been tied by two clever goals by Amberg and one by Currie, Amberg threw the winning goal.
Owing to the excellent defense of the University team, Tufts was able to score but two goals from the floor during the entire game. In passing the Harvard team was weak and a great deal of practice is needed in shooting baskets.
