In the first game of the interclass baseball series yesterday afternoon the Freshmen defeated the Sophomores by the score of 2 to 1. All three runs were the result of errors. There was little hitting, both pitchers being very effective, especially with men on bases. Slater struck out ten men, but was poorly supported by his team.
The Freshmen scored in the first inning on a base on balls and two stolen bases, aided by a wild throw, and added another in the sixth in the same way. The only score for the Sophomores was made by Stephenson in the second inning on a hit, two stolen bases and a passed ball. A difficult catch by Pritchett was the feature of the game.
The summary: Stolen bases--Cutting 3, Briggs 2, Slater, Pritchett, Harding, Palmer, Kelly. Sacrifice hits--Palmer, Ware, Cutting, Bird.
