Brooks House Constitution Amended

At the meeting last night of the Phillips Brooks House Association, it was voted to amend article 4 of the constitution in order to provide for the admission of newly formed societies to the cabinet of the Association.

President J. D. White '07 called the meeting to order and after explaining the necessity for a change read the article as proposed to be amended:

"The officers shall be a president, a secretary, a treasurer, a vice-president at large, and a vice-president for each of the religious and philanthropic societies active in Phillips Brooks House during the preceding year. The chairman of the Social Service Committee of the Association shall be a vice-president ex-officio, and each year the cabinet after consultation with the Phillips Brooks House Committee appointed by the Corporation, shall decide, not earlier than four weeks, nor later than two weeks before the annual election, what other organizations are by reason of their stability and usefulness entitled to representation."

J. M. Groves '05, the graduate secretary, explained that the societies represented in the cabinet of the Association are purposely not named, for the sake of giving flexibility to the article.

The last sentence of the amended article provides for the admission, without a change in the constitution, of such new societies as in the last year or two have given evidence of permanency and value.
