The University baseball team will play Bates in the sixth game of the season on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Last year Bates was defeated by a score of 12 to 1, Harvard securing 15 hits. Johnson, who will pitch for Bates this afternoon, was then playing in the outfield. The line-up of the team, however, will be much the same as last year.
Since the University team returned from the South little or nothing has been accomplished. No practice was held on Monday on account of the wet condition of the field, and yesterday cold weather hampered the work. A great deal, however, was accomplished by the long, hard practices at Richmond in developing team play and inspiring confidence; and improvement over the crude play against Trinity and Vermont is expected.
The batting orders today will be as follows: Reserved seats, at 75 cents, are on sale at Leavitt & Peirce's, and at the box office on the field.
