The third annual indoor handicap games, and the annual gymnastic contest for the university championship were held in the gymnasium last Friday afternoon. The times in the track events were all good and especially that in the mile, considering the large number of entries and the sharp turns in the track, which was run in 4 minutes and 50 seconds. H. L. Moore '06 did well in the pole vault, winning the event from scratch at 11 feet.
In the all-around gymnastic championship contest, E. W. Mecabe '08 won first place, securing 301 1-2 points. H. L. Dowd '09 was second with 223 points. Both of these men have been entered for the individual championship in the intercollegiate gymnastic meet on Friday.
Baseball practice has been held in the gymnasium this week as the snow made out-door work impossible. The first game of the season, scheduled with New York University for last Saturday, was cancelled.
On Monday, March 20, James Robinson, who has been Princeton's athletic trainer for the past six years, died very suddenly of heart failure at his home. Mr. Robinson has been in poor health since last summer, but his death came as a surprise to the university.
Professor Andre Tridon of New York University, delivered a lecture in French before the French Club on last Wednesday evening. On the same night, Dr. J. W. Waddell, who was for a time a professor in the Imperial University, Japan, gave an informal talk before the Engineering Society on his experiences as a consulting engineer.
The Triangle Club will present "Tabasco Land" at the Broad street Theatre, Philadelphia, on Saturday evening, May 19.
