BASKETBALL WITH PRINCETON

This Afternoon in Princeton Gymnasium,--Game Will Probably be Close.

The University basketball team will play its second game with Princeton this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Princeton Gymnasium.

In the first game which was played in Cambridge on January 20, Harvard easily won by the score of 36 to 8. Since that time the Princeton team has been strengthened by the acquisition of several former players of considerable experience, and is playing a much stronger game. Last Saturday Princeton defeated Cornell, 30 to 14, and in an exciting game on Wednesday won from Columbia by the close score of 23 to 19. This showing against Columbia is especially remarkable as Columbia had lost only one game and was tied with Harvard for second place in the league.

The University team has also been showing steady improvement in the past three weeks. Holy Cross, Yale and the Worcester Polytechnic Institute have been defeated by decisive scores, and the defense of the University team has been so strong that few baskets from the floor have been thrown by the opposing teams. The coaching has been directed toward faster team play and the men have shown better judgment in passing, and less tendency to rely on individual skill. Griffiths has become more reliable in throwing baskets on fouls.

Princeton will of course have the advantage of playing on their own floor, but the University team will have a long practice in the Princeton Gymnasium this morning. Although the game will very likely be a close one, Harvard should be able to win. Captain Griffiths will probably play only a part of the game, as he recently strained a muscle in his arm and will be needed more in the Pennsylvania game tomorrow.

The teams will line up as follows: HARVARD.  PRINCETON. Quigley, l.f.  r.g., Halliday Broun, r.f.  l.g., Bokum Amberg, c.  c., Clark Burnham, l.g.  r.f., Hooks Griffiths, Brooks, r.g.  l.f., Vanderbilt
