[We invite all men in the University to submit communications on subjects of timely interest. The CRIMSON is not, however, responsible for the sentiments expressed in such communications as may be printed.]
To the Editors of the CRIMSON:--
May I use your columns to call the attention of music lovers in the student body to the coming concert by the Choral Art Society of Boston? This society, which consists of a remarkably fine professional chorus of mixed voices under the leadership of Wallace Goodrich, has for its special object the rendering of the a capella compositions of Palestrina. Lasso and other mediaeval composers of sacred music. It also performs the madrigals of the famous English school, Powland, Vilbye and others. This year the society renews its generous offer of the past few seasons by admitting any member of the Music Department to the concert for half price, i.e., seventy-five cents. The same ticket will admit bearer to the preceding rehearsal.
The concert is to be given in Jordan Hall, Boston, Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. The final rehearsal will be held at the same place tomorrow afternoon at 4.30. It is hoped that as many students as possible will avail themselves of this unique and generously provided opportunity to hear celebrated masterpieces which are seldom given. Tickets may be procured from the undersigned at the close of any lecture in Holden Chapel, this morning or tomorrow morning. WALTER SPALDING.
