The University football team will play Brown this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Stadium in what should be a moderately hard game. Last year Harvard defeated Brown by the score of 10 to 0, the low score being due to Brown's aggressivespirit and shifting formations. Of the four games played so far this fall Brown has won three, defeating Norwich University, 26 to 4; Wesleyan, 17 to 0; and New Hampshire State, 12 to 0. In the game two weeks ago, however, Pennsylvania defeated Brown 14 to 0, scoring two touchdowns and a goal from the field. Seven of the men who played against Harvard last, year are again in the line-up, and the team is fairly fast and strong for its weight. The University eleven will have a decided advantage in punting.
Captain Foster, who has recently received a slight injury to his ankle, may get into the game. In case he does not his place at left halfback will be filled by Mason, who has been shifted over from fullback. Fraser will play at centre, as Parker has not yet wholly recovered from the injury to his shoulder. Kennard and Macdonald will start the game at end. The captains of University teams and J.D. White '07 will lead the cheering, and a special section will be reserved. It is expected that the new football songs will be sung. Brown will bring an unusually large crowd of adherents, so that both elevens should have good support.
The teams will line up as follows: The practice yesterday afternoon was extremely light, there being no scrimmage. For the first 16 minutes nearly all the men had kicking practice, Burr trying punts, Wendell goals from placement, and Newhall, Starr, and Kennard drop kicks. After a few minutes of line-up between the first and second teams in which the University eleven was identical with the one which will play today, three teams were formed for signal practice.
