In the national indoor track and field championships of the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, held on Saturday, November 10, Yale won first place in the pole-vault and 660-yard dash. A. C. Gilbert '08 M.S. cleared the bar at 10 feet 10 inches, while E. B. Parsons '07 won the 660-yard run from a field of six, among whom were M. W. Sheppard, and Paul Pilgrim, who won in the Olympian games at Athens last spring.
In the trials for the cross-country team, which were held last week, the following men qualified: W. E. Dunham '08, W. C. Gibson '07S., M. A. Hellman '08, C. F. Luther '08, E. B. Parsons '07, R. A. Spitzer '09, B. H. Woodward '07.
On Friday afternoon Princeton won the dual shoot from Yale by a margin of seven birds.
Rules pertaining to athletics on the Campus were drawn up last Wednesday. A limitation was placed on the places where sports could be indulged in.
A call for candidates for the basketball team was issued on Thursday, and regular practice commenced Monday. Coach Lush of the baseball team will act as head coach and general adviser.
