DORMITORY ROWING

Begins Tomorrow.--Crew Meetings in Dormitories at 7.30 Tonight.

Dormitory rowing, which was instituted last year with such good results, will begin this week. The work of the crews will be closely watched for promising material for the University and class crews next spring. Freshmen not playing football are especially urged to come out as there will be no regular Freshman rowing this fall.

The basis of each crew will be the dormitory, when it is large enough to insure a satisfactory crew, or else the dormitory group, or street group. A sufficient number of crews will be formed to accommodate all who wish to row.

At the end of about three weeks of practice bumping races will be held on the river near the University boathouse for three days. In these races the crews will start in the order in which they finished last year. Afterwards three graded crews each from the Newell and Weld boat clubs will be formed and will practice for about ten days before they race in the Charles River basin. For these six graded crews only those men will be eligible who rowed with their dormitory eights. The winners will be awarded their club insignia.

In order to organize these crews, meetings will be held at 7.30 o'clock this evening in the various dormitories as designated below: Randolph--Breakfast Room; Weld--17; Matthews--33; Ridgely--Breakfast Room; Holyoke street--Hapgood 2; Westmorly--124; Grays--28; Craigie and Waverley--Craigie 107; Perkins and Conant--Perkins Living Room; Thayer--25; Russell--20; Stoughton, Hollis and Holworthy--Hollis 17; Dunster, Dana, and Drayton--Dunster 24; Claverly--28; Mt. Auburn street--Ridgely Annex; Hampden, Beck, and Fairfax--Hampden 20. Other crews should leave word with J. Richards '07, Matthews 33, today.

The captains who will be elected tonight should arrange tomorrow morning with Coaches Stephenson, Newell and Vail, who replaces Rice at the Weld boathouse, for hours at which their crews may report during the afternoon, and will put up notices in the dormitories of these hours. The Randolph, Weld, Matthews, Ridgely, Holyoke street, Westmorly, Grays, and Craigie-Waverley crews will row from the Newell boathouse, and the others from the Weld.
