FAST PRACTICE YESTERDAY

University Team Scored Three Times.-Long Runs by Foster and Lincoin.

The football practice yesterday afternoon was the most spirited of any of this year, the first eleven scoring three touchdown on the second team in a 20-minute scrimmage. There was an unusual amount of the snap in the work and many long runs were made by the backs, both on simple line plays and on forward passes and onside kicks. The features of the work were a 45-yard run by Foster, and a 70-yard end run by Lincoin later, when numerous substitutes were tried. Burr and Kersburg were of great aid to the backs, the first, in particular, making a hole through which Wendell rushed 21 yards for a touchdown. Newhall ran the team especially well, and Orr played a good game at end. In the preliminary practice, which was very short most of the time was devoted to work on the onside kick.

The second team kicked off to Osborne, who fumbled, the second regaining the ball on the 28-yard line. On the next play the first team was penalized five yards for being offside, but after getting the ball on a poor forward pass on the 14-yard line, rushed it the length of the field, Wendell making the touchdown. In this series of rushes Foster made his long run of 45 yards. Burr kicked the goal.

Burr kicked off to Graydon, but the first team was offside and forced to kickoff again from the 50-yard line. Gilder, who caught the ball, was stopped on the 25-yard line. The University eleven secured the ball on a poor forward pass in the next play on the 21-yard line, from which point Wendell made the second touchdown through a hole made by the Burr. Burr kicked the goal.

Miller caught Blanchard's kickoff on the 18-yard line. Lockwood at once lost the ball on an onside kick, Cate running it back 20 yards for the second team to the 20-yard line. Newhall got the ball on a forward pass made by the second team, after which Burr punted to the middle of the field. Foster made 12 yards on an end play, and after an exchange of kicks, regained the ball on the 47-yard line. The University eleven was penalized 15 yards for holding, but made it up on a double pass in the next scrimmage. After two forward passes and several line plays, Gray made the third and last touchdown. Fifteen minutes of play for two substitute teams followed, in which the first eleven scored two touchdowns on the second eleven. The first touchdown was made as a result of Lincoin's 70-yard run on a forward pass.
