During the past week many new men have reported for track work, so that the number of candidates is now over a hundred. Only light work has been undertaken as yet. The men who will compose the relay team to represent Princeton at the B. A. A. meet on February 10, will be chosen on Monday. The University will also send five or six men to compete in the open events.
Owing to the warm weather the hockey team has been unable to practice for nearly two weeks, so that much satisfaction was felt over the ability of the team to hold Harvard down to the score of 3 to 2, on Saturday night.
The playing of the University basketball team has been far from satisfactory. The team has been defeated by Pennsylvania, Yale and Harvard during the past week. The best showing was made against Yale on Friday night, the score being 28 to 22.
The gymnastic team took part in a quadrangular exhibition with Pennsylvania, Columbia and Haverford on Saturday. The University team made a good showing, the work of Munn and Hoagland of Princeton being exceptionally good.
Owing to the mild weather this winter, the work on the new Alumni dormitory has progressed very rapidly. Almost all the stone work has been completed and part of the roof tiling has been put in place.
The mid-year examinations will commence on January 25 and continue until February 7.
