The University hockey team yesterday defeated a scrub team made up of graduates and members of the second team by a score of 6 to 4. The forwards on the first team did not play together at all, but often attempted to carry the puck down the ice unassisted. Townsend showed improvement in stick work, but the passing of the other forwards was ragged. With the exception of Willetts, who in a number of instances body-checked well, the defensive work of the University team, was poor. D. Newhall lifted poorly and Ivy was weak at goal. Penhallow at cover point played the best game for the graduate team.
The teams lined up as follows: Goals--Fraser-Campbell, J. Lovering, Macleod, D. Newhall, M. Newhall, Pell, Townsend, Winsor 3. Time--20-minute halves. Coach Winsor has picked the following to form the University squad; Briggs, Francis, A. Fraser-Campbell, Harding, Ivy, Lovering, Mackay, Macleod, D. Newhall, M. Newhall, Niles, Pell, Rivinius, Rumsey, Sampson, Starr, Townsend, Wagstaff, Washburn, Willetts.
