The University crew was given a long row yesterday afternoon down to the basin and back again above the boathouse. A slow stroke was practised to give the men better control, and special attention was paid to correcting the tendency to rush the slides. Tappan was put back in his former position at two, where Farley has been rowing for the last week. No changes have been made in the order of the four-oar.

The two Freshman four-oars raced yesterday over a five-eighths of a mile course downstream from Brighton bridge to above the Newell Boat Club, Ball's crew winning by three-quarters of a length. Ball's crew rowed more smoothly throughout, and showed a better ability to put up the stroke.

The following have been retained for the Freshman four-oar boat, and will report this afternoon at 4 o'clock: Ball, Mason, Bacon, Comstock, Whitney, cox. No changes have been made in the Freshman eight.
