Last Wednesday the university and freshman crews left for Gale's Ferry, New London, where they are now training for the annual boat races with Harvard. Through the generosity of P. Whitney '98, captain of the 1898 crew, the training W.J. Hail, T.S., winner of the two-mile run in this year's intercollegiate track meet has been re-elected captain of the Yale cross-country team. Great interest was taken in the election of officers of the crew, baseball and track teams this week. W.S. Moorhead '06, of Greensburgh, Pa., was elected manager of the crew; A.C. Ortmayer '06S., was elected vice-president, and T.P. Dixon '07 was elected assistant manager. For the baseball association, S. Turner '06, was elected manager; F.V. It has been decided to change the name of Old South Middle, the oldest building on the Yale Campus, which was erected in 1790, to Connecticut Hall. This dormitory is now being thoroughly renovated and will be fitted up with all modern conveniences. Besides this the exterior has been altered so as to restore it as much as possible to its original appearance. It will be ready for occupancy, it is expected, in time for the opening of college next fall. A fund of over $15,000 was raised in order to preserve this building, which is one, of the two remaining old Yale buildings.
