On March 3 Yale completed her schedule in the intercollegiate basketball series, and closed the season in second place. Although at one time the team had some chance of winning the championship, its defeat by Columbia on March 1 by the score of 24 to 21 allowed its opponent to maintain the lead and finish i first place. The game was without doubt the most exciting match ever played on the Yale floor, as Yale held the lead at the end of the first half, 13 to 11. On Friday the university team lost in the last game of the season to Cornell at Ithaca.
In the second annual meet of the Yale Swimming Association, J. B. Curtiss 1905S, broke the university record for the 200-yard swim, his time being 2 m 51 1-5 s,; and H. Graham 1908 made a new record of 1 m. 9 1-5 s. in the 100-yard swim.
Candidates for the university baseball team are now being given regular work in the cage under the direction of Coach Lush. A rather small number of men has reported, and the outlook for the coming year is not particularly bright. Of last year's team and substitutes nine men are in college who are eligible to play. There is however a great lack of good battery material.
