Dr. Elmer Hewitt Capen, president of Tufts College, died of pneumonia yesterday morning. After graduating from Tufts in 1860 Dr. Capen spent a year at the Law School, and was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1863. He practiced law for a year, then studied for the ministry, which he entered in 1865. Ten years later he was elected to the presidency of Tufts College, which office he has held ever since.
