The Geological Department intends to send two parties to Iceland the coming summer under the direction of Professor T. A. Jaggar '93 and Dr. W. C. Farabee, instructor in anthropology. Mr. V. Stefansson 1G., who has visited the country before, will leave here on May 25 to complete the arrangements. Professor Jaggar, who is conducting a party of all men interested in geology, will sail a few days later. He expects to reach north Iceland by June 16, in time to see the midnight sun.
Dr. Farabee will leave Boston early in June. His party, limited to ten men, will meet in Edinburgh on July 8. Sailing from Scotland, they will join Professor Jaggar in Reykjavik on July 16. Together the two parties will cross to the north of Iceland and thence proceed eastward along the coast, visiting the important geysers, glaciers and volcanoes.
Dr. Farabee will return to Scotland or go to Norway early in August, but Professor Jaggar will remain in Iceland for several weeks. After Dr. Farabee's departure Mr. Stefansson and Mr. J. Hastings 1G. will conduct for the Peabody Museum archaeological investigations and will make anthropometric measurements of the inhabitants of the island.
