New Crew Shells in Construction.

The University eight-oared shell for this year will be built by Frank E. Davy of Cambridge. The order for the shell will be placed this week, but its final construction will probably be delayed until May, in order that the weight of the crew may be known as nearly as possible. It will be ready for use in the last part of May. In design it will not differ essentially from last year's boat.

The five new wherries which were ordered from Davy for the Weld Boat Club are finished, with the exception of rigging. Great care has been taken in their design, and the best possible material has been used throughout their construction in order that they may be thoroughly first-class boats. Their dimensions are as follows: length, 19 feet, 6 inches; beam, 24 inches; depth, 10 inches. They are the first boats of the kind which have been built for the Weld Boat Club, and since so much care has been taken in their construction it is expected that they will prove a valuable addition to the equipment of the boat-house.

The two Yale eight-oared shells, which are also being constructed at Davy's shop, are completed, with the exception of rigging. In design and construction they are practically identical with last year's Yale shell. They will be delivered within the next two weeks.
