In an extremely close and hard-fought game the University basketball team defeated Yale in the Gymnasium on Saturday evening by the score of 12 to 10. At the end of the regular halves the score was tied at 10 to 10, and an extra period was played to decide the game. The play was fast and exciting throughout, but the interest of the game was largely spoiled by several long delays for disputes over rules and decisions.

Both teams had good team work and covered well, although Yale was slightly superior in these respects. Harvard's occasional wild passing was more than offset by Yale's inability, in spite of numerous chances, to throw goals. Harvard won by hard, aggressive play and accurate shooting.

In the first half Hyatt of Yale made three goals from fouls and Griffiths of Harvard shot two goals from the floor, making the score at the end of the half 4 to 3 in Harvard's favor. About the middle of the second half Harvard obtained a further lead, but by two goals from the floor and one on a foul Yale caught up and gained a lead of one point. Near the end of the half Henderson tied the score by a goal from a foul. In the extra period Yale missed several chances to score at the start, and then after about three minutes of exciting play Henderson threw the winning basket for Harvard.
