Last Tuesday evening the University chess team defeated the Dorchester Chess Club by the score of 3 1-2 to 1 1-2. This was the second match of the Metropolitan Chess League tournament. The University team now leads in the tournament, as it has not been beaten in the two matches played. In the match last Tuesday evening E. Q. Abbot '06 lost, Q. A. Brackett '06 drew, K. S. Johnson '07 won by default, B. Palsson '09 won, and E. R. Perry '06 won. Next Tuesday evening the third match will be played with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This match will probably be played in Boston.
The following list of men has been submitted to the management of the New York Intercollegiate Tournament for approval: P. W. Bridgman 2G., Q.A. Brackett '06, W. C. Cogswell '06, E. H. Gruening '07, S. W. Howland 2L., K. S. Johnson '07, C. G. Morse '06, E. R. Perry '06. These eight men will play a round robin tournament before December 10. The four best men will form the team which will play in the tournament against Columbia, Princeton, and Yale on December 21, 22, and 23 at the West Side Young Men's Republican Club, New York City.
