Fall lacrosse practice will commence on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. All men in the University who have played lacrosse and men wishing to learn the game, especially Freshmen, are urged to come out. Separate squads will be formed for Freshmen and upperclassmen. R. J. Hardy '01, a member of the University team in 1901 and later a member of the Crescent Athletic Club team, will coach the upper-class squad, and H. H. Bennett '04, captain in 1904, will probably coach the Freshmen. The practice will last three weeks and will end with a game between a picked team from the squad and a team of graduates. If enough men report, a series of class games will also be arranged.
This evening there will be a meeting of all men new to the game in the Assembly Room of the Union at 7.30 o'clock. At this meeting plans will be outlined, and the game described by the coach and the captain. A special effort will be made this fall to drill a large Freshman squad in the essentials of the game, so that when spring practice starts, attention can be turned at once to developing team play. All Freshmen who are not engaged in some other form of athletics are therefore urged to report today.
