The result of yesterday's matches in the singles is as follows:

Third round--R. B. Dresser 3L. defeated S. T. Stackpole '07 6-3, 4-6, 6-1; N. W. Niles '09 defeated C. C. Auchincloss 3L. 6-1, 6-3.

Fourth round--F. J. Sulloway 2L. defeated F. W. Cole 2L. 6-2, 6-4; P. L. Miller 3L. defeated A. J. Wertheimer '09 3-6, 6-2, 6-4; S. W. Howland 2L. defeated H. C. McClintock 3L. 8-6, 6-1.

The match between R. B. Dresser and S. T. Stackpole was very sharply contested. Both men played a hard game, but toward the last Stackpole weakened, allowing Dresser to win the deciding set. N. W. Niles defeated C. C. Auchincloss in straight sets. Niles was much steadier than his opponent, at the same time playing a strong game at the net. One of the best played matches of the afternoon was that between F. J. Sulloway and F. W. Cole. Although Sulloway won in straight sets, the play was much closer than the score indicates. The cross-court drives of both men were fast and sure. Sulloway won by playing a more accurate and steadier game than his opponent. A. J. Wertheimer won the first set of his match with P. L. Miller, but then weakened, allowing Miller to win the next two sets.
