The University basketball team defeated Brown in the Hemenway Gymnasium yesterday afternoon by the score of 27 to 10. A large number of fouls were called on both teams, caused by the exceedingly aggressive character of the play throughout the game.
In the first half Brown scored first but successive goals by Henderson and Murray soon gave the University team a substantial lead. At the end of the half the score stood 19 to 5 in favor of Harvard.
In the second half Schartz replaced Reynolds at guard and proved a strong man for the Brown team, scoring once from the floor and once from a free try. The Brown forwards played together much better in this half and the guards made a number of long, effective passes. The University team played steadily with occasional brilliant passes and trys for goal.
The line-up was as follows: Score--Harvard, 27; Brown, 10. Baskets from floor--Henderson 4, Murray 4, Snyder 3, Burnham, Griffiths, Reynolds, Pryor, Schartz. Baskets on fouls--Henderson, Dewolf 2.
