RED TOP, June 7.--With the exception of the Freshman four-oar, all the crews had light practice this morning. In the afternoon the first crew rowed over the four-mile course against unfavorable conditions of wind and tide in the time of 23 minutes, 55 seconds. For the first two miles the University boat was paced by the Freshmen, who pulled ahead at the start, but finished half a length of open water behind the University boat. In the last two miles the first boat was paced by the second, which pulled a length ahead at the start and won by three quarters of a length. The first crew lasted out well and finished with a strong 36 stroke.
