Dean Shaler Returned.

Professor N. S. Shaler '62 returned to Cambridge last Thursday after an absence of five months and has resumed all his duties as Dean of the Scientific School.

Professor Shaler sailed from Boston on January 2 for Egypt where he spent about two months. He then travelled in Greece and Sicily and spent the last six weeks of his trip in Rome. Instead of visiting Portugal and England on his way home, as he had originally planned, he sailed for America from Naples. On the steamer coming home he slipped on the deck and broke his arm. Mrs. Shaler accompanied him.

During the academic year 1904-05 Professor Shaler will give five lectures in Landscape Architecture 1 and will conduct the following courses: Geology 4, which can no longer be counted for the degree of A.B.; Geology 14, general palaeontology; Geology 5, historical geology--occasional lectures; Geology 23, geological investigation in the field and laboratory; Geology 24, general palaeontology.

In the Summer School this year Professor Shaler will give about ten lectures on geological processes in Geology S1, besides attending to his regular duties as chairman of the committee on summer courses of instruction.
