The University second nine defeated the Holy Cross second team on Soldiers Field yesterday by the score of 11 to 6. In the first inning Holy Cross seemed the stronger team, and five hits against Tuckerman, and an error, resulted in four runs. Tuckerman then steadied down, allowing only two hits until the ninth inning, when an error, two fielders' choices and a two-base hit by Barry brought in two more runs for Holy Cross.
In the second inning, two bases on balls and a two-bases hit by Marshall resulted, in two runs, and in the third, two errors added another for Harvard. In the sixth, with the bases, full, Mitchell's two-base hit brought in three runs and Hamlen's hit to left field let in two more. Two runs were added in the seventh. Tuckerman in all struck out eight men and allowed no bases on balls. The fielding of both teams was good, but the base-running showed poor judgment.
