Channing Clapp '55 died in Boston last Friday, at the age of 68. He served through the Civil War as a member of the First Massachusetts Cavalry, and then engaged in the cotton planting business. Later the returned North, and became a prominent cotton merchant and manufacturer. He was president of the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company for four years and retired from active business only a few years ago.
