The University baseball team will play Pennsylvania this afternoon at Franklin Field, Philadelphia. As this is one of the hardest games that the team is scheduled to play, the result should be especially interesting, particularly as it affords the first opportunity since the Georgetown game of comparing the work of the team with that of Princeton and Yale. On May 7, Pennsylvania defeated Princeton by the score of 8 to 3 in a game characterized by good hitting at critical moments by Pennsylvania and costly errors by Princeton. On April 23 Pennsylvania was defeated by Yale in a close game by the score of 2 to 0, and on April 30 was again defeated by a score of 1 to 0.

Greenough played last year on the second team, and also shortstop on the University team in the Georgetown, Virginia, and Annapolis games. He has played in several of the games this year. Nichols played first base on last year's Freshman team, and in the Annapolis and West Point games this year. McCarty, a Freshman, played in the Virginia game. Fischel was on the second nine last year, and has played in a few of the games this spring.
In the practice yesterday on Franklin Field the work of the outfield was fast and the men covered considerable ground. Their batting was also fairly good.
The practice of the team at the bat and in the field was encouraging. The game will be called at 3 o'clock. Devlin will pitch for Pennsylvania.
The batting order is as follows:
