The lacrosse candidates lined up for the first time yesterday on Soldiers Field under the direction of Coach Shea. Two full teams of about equal strength were matched against each other and practiced working the ball down the field by team-play. Special attention was given to coaching the men to retain possession of the ball by team-play instead of trying for goals by individual effort.
Coach Shea will endeavor to develop the new Canadian style of play, consisting of retention of the ball by short passes and fast team-play.
D. P. Penhallow, captain of last year's team, has been appointed coach of the Freshman team; he will take charge of the entire squad this afternoon.
