INTERCOLLEGIATE FENCING

Harvard Tied for Second Place in Preliminary Bouts.--Finals Today.

NEW YORK CITY, Friday.--As a result of the preliminary bouts of the intercollegiate fencing tournament tonight at the New York Athletic Club, the Harvard team is tied for second place with Columbia, West Point is in first place, and the other teams are ranked as follows: Yale, Cornell, Annapolis, Pennsylvania. Only about one-third of the bouts, were finished. The remainder will be fought tomorrow afternoon and evening. H. W. Holmes 1G. is tied with F. W. Huneycutt of West Point, for the individual championship, each having won seven straight bouts.

The standing of the three leading teams is:   Won.  Lost. West Point,  15  6 Harvard,  14  8 Columbia,  14  8
