Yesterday the Board of Overseers acted under the rules recently adopted, and conferred degrees upon candidates. Hitherto it has been the custom to confer degrees only on Commencement Day, but under a change in the rules governing University degrees they may now be conferred in the middle of the academic year upon such candidates as are entitled to them. Among the degrees conferred at the special meeting yesterday were a number of bachelors of arts, doctors of medicine, of philosophy, and of dental medicine, and bachelors of science, of divinity, and of laws. Several degrees were conferred out of course, as with the class of 1903.

It was also decided to concur with the President and Fellows in their votes on the following appointments: E. H. Warren, A.M., LL.B., Assistant Professor of Law; F. L. Kennedy, A.B., S.B., Assistant Professor of Drawing and Machine Design; and re-appointing C. B. Gulick, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Greek; all for five years from Sept. 1, 1904; also in appointing J. R. Brackett, Instructor in Charity, Public Aid and Correction for three years from July 1, 1904; J. H. Woods, Ph.D., Instructor in Philosophy; and E. V. Huntington, Ph.D., Instructor in Mathematics, both from Sept. 1, 1904; H. L. Smyth, A.B., C.E., Director of the Mining and Metallurgical Laboratories; and in electing F. J. Stimson, A.B., LL.B., Professor of Comparative Legislation, to serve from Sept. 1, 1904.
