Mr. E. H. Clark '96 gave an illustrated lecture in the Union last evening, on "Athletics." Mr. Clark traced briefly the development of form in track and field events, showing slides of the leading professional and amateur athletes. Pictures of the Olympian Games, illustrating the stadium and the procession of the victors with their diplomas and olive branches, were also shown.
Mr. Clark spoke of the good accomplished among the poor by the playgrounds and sumnier vacation schools of Boston. In closing, he said that too much importance should not be laid upon competitive athletics. Men should engage in sport to develop mind and character, as well as body.
