By the will of the late Francis Boott '31, which was filed for probate yesterday, the University will receive a bequest of $10,000. This money is given in trust, the income to be be distributed in annual prizes of $100 each for the best composition of concerted vocal music by any undergraduates or members of the graduate school.
The winner in the annual competition for these prizes is to be chosen by a committee of three, consisting of Professor J. K. Paine h.'69, W. A. Locke '69, and W. F. Apthorp '69. The committee as given power to fill vacancies in its number and to give out the subject of the composition each year.
