Baseball practice has been held regularly every morning and afternoon this week. The morning work has been devoted to giving the University and second squads practice in batting under Keeler and Chesbro. This time has been used primarily in developing form, and as yet the men have not received swift balls.
In the afternoons, the squads have been drilled in ground balls, pivot and double plays: and in sliding and catching men between bases. Coach Frantz and Clarkson have done most of the coaching in these departments. The pitchers and catchers have also practiced every afternoon, and as yet no cut has been made in this squad.
The work of the Freshmen has been similar to that of the University squad. Batting and fielding practice has been given them every afternoon under the same coaches. The first cut in the squad was made yesterday. L. J. Daly '03, who has been appointed head coach, supervised the work for the first time on Thursday and will be out again today.
The work for all squads will continue regularly next week under the same coaching. Keeler will leave on March 6, and Chesbro on March 26.
