The University basketball team will play Columbia in the Hemenway Gymnasium this evening at 8 o'clock. Columbia has lost no game in the intercollegiate series and in addition to defeating Harvard on January 16 by a score of 38 to 14, has also defeated Cornell, Pennsylvania and Yale. The Harvard team, however, in spite of the absence of some of the regular players because of injuries, has made a marked improvement in the last week and has been playing with considerable dash. Swift and Stinchfield have only recently played on the first team, but their work in practice has shown them to be efficient guards.
Before the regular game and between the halves the Freshman team will play a practice game with the Cambridge High School.
The line-up of the University game will be as follows: A game has been arranged for the second team with the Fall River Signal Corps at Fall River this evening at 8 o'clock. The line-up of the second team will probably be: Gallagher, r.f.; Jones, l.f.; Arnold, c.; Smith, r.g.; Snyder, l.g.
