We invite all men in the University to submit communications on subjects of timely interest. The CRIMSON is not, however, responsible for the sentiments expressed in such communications as may be printed.
To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
Last spring, a graduate, who desires for the present to withhold his name, sent me, as editor of the Graduates' Magazine, $150 to be awarded in prizes for the three best articles on the possibility, or necessity, of establishing a modified English College system at our large universities, with particular reference to Harvard. The articles were to be handed in before November 1. As only two have been received, the graduate in question, who wishes to stimulate interest in this important subject, consents to extend the time of the competition till January 10, 1905. Articles must be written by members of the Senior and Junior classes, or by graduates of not more than fifteen years standing; they must not exceed 3000 words in length, and must be handed to the editor of the Harvard Graduates' Magazine, 8 Berkeley street, Cambridge, before January 10, 1905. The articles, or extracts from them, are to be printed, if it seem desirable, in the Graduates' Magazine. Announcement of the prizes will be made as soon as possible. It is hoped that this offer will call out many competitors who may be able to make some valuable suggestions. WM. R. THAYER
