Beginning this afternoon and continuing tomorrow and Saturday, the thirteenth annual intercollegiate chess tournament, between teams from Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Columbia, will be held at the West Side Republican Club, Broadway and 83 street, New York. The hours of play each day will be from 1 to 6 and from 8 to 10 P. M., and the rate of play will be 15 moves an hour. Admission will be only by complimentary tickets, which may be obtained from W. Catchings, 235 W. 104 street, New York.
The schedule of play will be as follows:
Thursday, December 22--Harvard vs. Princeton: Yale vs. Columbia.
Friday, December 23--Harvard vs. Columbia; Yale: vs. Princeton.
Saturday, December 24--Harvard vs. Columbia; Yale vs. Princeton.
The Harvard team, chosen as a result of a round robin tournament, will play in the following order: P. W. Bridgman 1G., S. W. Howland 1L., G. T. McClure '06, Q. A. Brackett '06. Substitutes--K. S. Johnson '07, L. D. Granger 1G.
The other teams will play in the following order:
Yale--W. N. Woodbury '06 S., C. P. Kimball '07, A. S. Jameson '06 S., C. H. Owen '05. Substitutes--H. W. Headley '06, H. E. Dimock '06.

The winning team will hold the intercollegiate cup for one year, and in addition each member of the team will receive a silver medal. The men on the Harvard team, whether they win or lose, will be awarded medals through the fund recently established by Mr. A. C. White '02, a former vice-president of the University Chess Club. With the exception of L. P. Carr 1L., Who is unable to play, the University team is the came as last year's championship team and its chances of winning are good.
Of the previous tournaments Harvard has won seven, Columbia four, and Yale one.
