The second debate of the interclass series, held last night between the Seniors and the Juniors, was won by the Juniors. M. Kabatchnick, H. A. Nye and A. N. Holcombe, who made up the winning team, spoke in the order named and supported the negative of the question: "Resolved, That it should be the policy of the United States not to hold territory permanently unless with the purpose that it shall ultimately enjoy statehood." The order of the Seniors was: W. H. Davis, W. O. Hubbard, W. Tyng. W. M. Shohl '06 presided.
The judges based their unanimous conclusion on the belief that the speakers of the negative were not only superior in form but presented and maintained a positive line of argument which could not be opposed.
For the final debate in February between the Sophomores and Juniors, new speakers will be chosen. The question for this debate, in which is annually decided the award of the Pasteur medal, will be chosen later, subject to the approval of the French Department.
