The Freshman football team defeated the Cushing Academy eleven on Soldiers Field Saturday by a score of 28 to 11.
Poor defense on the part of the Freshmen characterized the game. Although the Cushing team was light and not particularly strong on the offense, it made long gains through the Freshman line whenever in possession of the ball. This was especially true at the beginning of the first half, when Cushing rushed the ball down the field for a touchdown.
In this first half the Freshmen kicked off to Cushing who succeeded in scoring after several fumbles on both sides. The Freshmen received the next kick-off and rushed the ball to Cushing's 30-yard line. Gilder then scored a touchdown on an end run. Two more touchdowns were made during the half.
The only feature of the second half was a 95-yard run for a touchdown by Houlihan, of Cushing, who received the ball on the kick-off. Houlihan also kicked the goal. Two touchdowns and two goals were also scored by the Freshmen during the half. Score--Freshmen, 28; Cushing Academy, 11.
