At 3.30 o'clock this afternoon all members of the University will assemble in front of the Union to march to the Stadium to see the last practice of the football team. Men will form by classes, the graduates coming first. The University band will head the procession, and in the Stadium will lead the songs which were practiced Monday night at the Union. It is hoped that men will not be diverted to the Senior Sophomore class football game until after the cheering and singing.
The following will please form their respective classes in line for the procession: 1905--Schick, Bowditch, Travis, Sard, Bolton. 1906--Newhall, Stephenson, Grant, J. L. White, Sloan. 1907--J. D. White, Bacon, Morse, Keeling, Sargent. 1908--Hard, Clark, Derby, Newhall, Green.
The secret practice of the University football team yesterday afternoon was more encouraging than on Monday. Both the offense and the defense proved more effective, and in a 15-minute scrimmage with the second eleven the University team won, 5 to 0. The line-up was considerably changed in order to familiarize the men with positions they are likely to be called upon to play on Saturday, if Meier and Derby do not sufficiently recover from their recent injuries to enter the game. Brill did not report for practice yesterday but in all probability will be in condition to play in the Yale game. After the scrimmage between the University and second elevens, the University substitutes lined up against the second eleven for a 20-minute half, in which neither side scored.
For individual play yesterday the work of Montgomery at right end on the University team was the most deserving of praise. Randall, Matthews and Leatherbee, the other most promising candidates for the end positions, also played well.
In the line-up between the University and second elevens, the University team received the kick-off and immediately punted. Another exchange of kicks followed, which gave the ball to the second team on its own 5-yard line. The second eleven again kicked and the ball rolled outside on the 15-yard line. After three plays Foster went over the goal line for a touchdown. Sperry failed to kick the goal. The rest of the time was devoted to exchanges of punts.
The substitutes lined up as follows: Matthews, l.e.; Paul, l.t.; Schoenfuss, l.g.; Cunnin, c.; McFadon, r.g.; Jones, r.t.; Leatherbee, r.e.; Noyes, q.b.; Nichols, l.h.b.; Nesmith, r.h.b.; Hanley, f.b.
