Accurate Passing by Hockey Teams.

In practice on the Holmes Field rink yesterday afternoon the University hockey team defeated the second team by the score of 11 to 2. A slight change in the positions of the forwards proved a success, the first team showing a noticeable improvement in rushing the puck. Kernan was shifted to left end, Newhall played right end, and Wilder was moved to left center. The ice was much smoother than on Saturday, and was instrumental in making the passing swift and accurate on both teams.

In the defense the first team was, not as strong as usual and although only scored on twice, the second team were allowed many chances for short shoots. Throughout the game there was a tendency to offside play, which would have been severely penalized in a regular contest.

The line-up of the first team was as follows: Newhall, r.e.; Souther, r.c.; Wilder, l.c.; Kernan, l.e.; Clothier, c.p.; Carr, p.; Ivy, g.
