Only twelve candidates for the Freshman hockey team reported on Artificial pond on Saturday afternoon for the first regular practice since the Christmas recess. In order to make a satisfactory showing in the games which the management is arranging with the Yale freshmen, Brown freshmen, Andover, Pomfret, Trinity College and St. Paul's School more men must come out at once. Points and cover-points are especially needed.
The practice on Saturday consisted principally of work for the forwards in shooting and passing, and general defensive work for the candidates for the back field. The roughness of the ice rendered accurate work somewhat difficult.
The first game of the season will probably be played on next Saturday afternoon at Concord, N. H., with St. Paul's School. A notice in regard to the regular practice for this afternoon will be posted this morning in Goodman, Leavitt and Yatter's.
