BASKETBALL TEAM DEFEATED.

Columbia Scored 38 Points to 14 in New York.--1907 Beat Browne & Nichols.

NEW YORK CITY, Friday--The University basketball team was defeated by Columbia tonight by a score of 38 to 14. Columbia's phenomenal team play and accuracy at throwing goals together with injury to Randall and Bigelow early in the game accounts for the defeat. Roughness characterized the entire play and Columbia was constantly penalized throughout the game. Harvard played excellent basketball, but was wholly unable to locate the baskets which are unlike any others now in use in the league.

At times the play was unnecessarily rough, many fouls being called on both sides.
