Yale won all three boat races at New London on Thursday, June 25, under almost perfect weather conditions. In the four-oared race the Harvard boat jumped ahead at the start but was soon over-taken and at the quarter-mile was a length and a half behind the Yale crew. This lead was gradually increased to four lengths at the finish. Time 10m., 59 2-5s.
The University race was rowed at about 1.30 on a strong ebb tide. The Harvard boat took the lead at the start and at the mile was fully three-quarters of a length in the lead. After that, however, the Yale crew gained steadily, leading by half a length at the mile and a half mark, and winning by four lengths. Time, 20 m., 19 4-5s.
In the Freshman race both crews stayed practically together until the mile mark, Then the Yale crew started to gain, obtained a lead of a length at the mile and a half and increasing it to two and one quarter lengths at the finish. Time, 9m., 49 1-5s.
