The interclass track games, held on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon, resulted in a victory for the Seniors with a total of 37 1-2 points. The other classes scored as follows: Sophomores, 32 1-2; Juniors, 28; Freshmen, 6. The weather was not as good for running as in the handicap games last week and a slight wind blew against the men in the stretch.
The meet was, nevertheless, made especially interesting by the remarkably good performances in several of the events. A new University record was established in the shot put by J. Q. Tingley '05, with a put of 44 ft. 7 1-2 in. This broke F. H. Schoenfuss's record of 44 ft. 1 1-2 inches made in the handicap games last week. Later in the afternoon, Tingley put the shot 44 ft. 8 1-2 in., but this was not in competition.
Another good performance was that of J. E. Haigh '03 in the quarter-mile run. Haigh ran in pretty form and finished strongly in 49 2-5 s. W. A. Colwell 2G. ran a strong race in the two-mile. Being a graduate, he was unable to qualify for a place. He started twenty seconds after the others and finished in good time, which was not given out.
The following men will be taken on the training-table this morning and should meet with the others in front of University Hall at 8 o'clock: Peterson, Howes, Gring, Oveson, Curtis, King and Trott.
